In Stitches

My first new piece is a petrified snail shell with druzy agate inside, Swarovski pearls, glass seed beads in 15/0 and 11/0, a Sterling silver clasp, backed in Ultrasuede. I donated it to the silent auction at my kids' school. You can click and enlarge the photos. 

The second piece is a geode slice with seed beads in 11/0 and 15/0, bugle beads, Swarovski pearls, Czech dragonscale beads, backed in Ultrasuede. It's about 4.47" from bail to the ends of the fringe. 

Egyptian Zodiac bead embroidery WIP

In progress photos of a bead embroidery project I'm currently working on. Czech glass button in mirror back purple/ pink/ orange finish, Swarovski crystals and pearls, glass seed beads, bugle beads, and amethyst chunks. It took a LONG time because I had to do every part at least three times. It's at a stopping point until I get some beads to make a necklace strong enough to hold it. I will have to re-paint the face when it's all finished since the paint wore off over the course of my work.

Evangeline

Bead embroidered pendant on a 19" satin ribbon with sterling silver clasp and end wraps. Iridescent white Czech glass button, seed beads in 11/0 and 15/0. Swarovski crystals and Swarovski pearls on ends of the fringe, and a multi-faceted green glass bead accent in the center. Backing is Ultrasuede. 3.57" long. 

Art Deco, maybe.

Haven't posted in a long time. Too much happening at home. First break I really had was this past weekend. I made this.

About 4 1/2" long from top to the bottom of the longest fringe. Czech glass buttons as focal points, glass seed beads and Swarovski pearls in black. The bail has a piece of lead-free vinyl tubing inside to keep it nice and rounded and prevent snagging on a necklace. The whole thing is backed in Ultrasuede. Hard to take pictures of because the Czech buttons change colors depending on the light and the iridescent seed bead cause too many different focus points for the camera. Just getting these pictures too a lot of tries. 

Pendant Pandemonium

I made for tube beads yesterday just so that I could wire them into pendants. They may or may not ever make it onto Etsy depending on whether or not people on Facebook claim them first.

Leap, frog!

I have a wonderful idea for making starfish bead pendant things. I need to go make the frit for it though, and that's kind of a hassle unless I'm feeling the need to be destructive. I think I might put a bunch of rods in the kiln and heat them up and drop them in a bucket of ice water and be done with it. I hate the "heat, plunge, heat, plunge" method. Takes forever.

My torch and marver are supposed to be here tomorrow! Also expected tomorrow is a package of glass from Frantz! Husband located a flamework supply shop in Golden that carries everything. So $15 I don't have to spend on shipping every time is $15 more that I can spend on glass. Woot!

Ghost followed me into the shower last night and decided, a little too late, that she didn't like it in there. She needed a bath anyway though, so she got one.

Ghost kitty is eating solid food and has finally figured out how to drink water from a bowl! Yeah!


Spectre, on the other hand, isn't having any part of being weaned. I have to force him to eat solid food, and then he bites me and spits it back out. I can stick it clear in the back of his mouth and he'll eat it, but then he goes limp and plays dead until I stop. *sigh* I need someone to wave a magic wand and get him weaned.

My sister and her boyfriend came over for dinner and game night last night. I have the cutest picture of her and Spectre. That cat just loves to cuddle and be wrapped in long hair, so they'll be a perfect match. I'm sure going to miss him when he goes.




I've got another pendant started but I think it's going to take a while to complete because it's going to be filled with little tiny roses and they take forever to make and get cut without squashing them.

Not much else to say today. Spent most of the weekend feeling relatively crappy so I didn't get much done.
