Waves

From this point on, this will be solely an art display blog. All the brain ramblings will be posted here.

Anyway, I've been working on a couple projects.

Taught myself to skin snakes (they were dead when I found them, so don't get upset)

I spent two days working on the fringe and made myself half crazy

Finished this one this morning and you can enter to win it here.

Dragon Scales

Working on a new piece with a dragon theme. Tiny 15/0 seed beads so it's kinda slow going, but I got a magnifier so as soon as I adjust to the depth perception part of it, I should be all set. Photo is kinda glaring but I needed a shot in the sun to show all the different colors in the beads.

I don't have the beads for the big focal piece yet but I do have them saved in a cart on a bead site. Probably won't get them for a while because I came across a dollhouse kit in an unopened box for a steal on craigslist and I *really* want to save up and get it if it's still there. If it's not available by the time I save up the asking price, then I'll just be able to get more beads.

At any rate, the year is off to a nice creative start and I'm pleased with the direction things are headed.

Lace Parade

I finished my latest bead embroidery project yesterday. It is a 21" Chenille stitch necklace and a bead embroidered pendant that is 2 1/2" wide by 4" long.

It is up for auction here for the next 29 hours, if you're interested :-)

My next project is already in the beginning stages but I can't post pictures as it's a surprise for someone.

Thanks for stopping by :-)

Pretty in pink

Yesterday I wrapped my new rod of goldstone in a striking pink before pulling it into stringer. This is the result.

I'm very fond of this new purple and the pink together, so I may be expanding upon this idea. I also have some French renaissance ideas to combine with some gothic elements that I'd like to experiment with translating into glass. So maybe some new stuff coming soon.

Independent Artist feature

It's not often that I find a jewelry piece that sets my heart all a-flutter, because frankly I'm not a jewelry girl. That said, I have a piece today to share just because looking at it gives me one of those rare "Oh my gosh look at that!" moments.

This ring, called "Calyx", was made by Stephanie Aust. People who know glass artists by artist names know her as "copperrein". It has one of her glass beads as the focal point, accented by glass micro beads and wire wrapping that she did by hand. It's a really impressive piece and a steal at $26. You can buy it here. So shop independent and fuel the creative flame!
